But where thank you goes a long way is in strengthening the network...<br /><br />Those 2 little words, or 1 if you want to be quick and say "thanks" give the recipient a sense of being. Knowing that the work in itself is appreciated, so that the next time an event, or challenge is placed in that person's direction... They will be more than willing to give of his or her self 100%<br /><br />This one little action, can strengthen networks to the point of pushing quality even further than the last time...<br /><br />I thank everybody everyday for the smallest of things, simply because the little things mean the most...<br /><br />Today is Monday, and I'm sure you have a lot to get through before the week gets to Wednesday...so I thank you for reading...<br /><br />Now... do I want to use both sides of this card on this design or not...<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/36091779-116160807877088228?l=aldricbailey.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>kergulenisSTILLfrench...hmmmmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12872951838811172193noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36091779.post-1161457777919799102006-10-21T11:30:00.002-07:002006-10-22T05:24:46.086-07:00I attended a seminar yesterday titled Defining Success: how do you know when you've made it?...<br /><br />The entire day was filled with information, which as a designer sheds new light, for me on just how important networking is, but before I get into that, I'd like to direct your attention to http://www.networkireland.ie/ and I'd also like to say a massive thank you to Orla Murray of Orla Murray Financial Services http://www.orlamurray.com for inviting me along.<br /><br />when we think of success, financial rewards are usually the barometer of choice, the house, the car, the holiday home...that sort of thing, but yesterday I saw with my own 2 eyes a definition of success that was driven by love, passion, humanity and courage... <br /><br />Women in business are the catalyst of this change, the ideas and functionality of their business model is not driven by femininity, but to it...no, not female specific products, but business in general...from software development to marketing and research, women think different, and they know how to do things that we as men, just can't seem to get done...<br /><br />There was not once, any indication of innuendo... just an open discussion about the value of defining success (by your own means)...sharing the info that you can't buy in books...but read on blogs, like this one.<br /><br />I have to say in all my years of graphic art and design, marketing, television production and being in and around the media in general, I have actually been much more successful in my business dealings, when the person I was dealing with was a woman...<br /><br />infinitely...<br /><br />That said however, it's by no means MY definition of success...<br /><br />What I'm getting at is that I made a massive decision some years ago to leave The Beautiful Twin Island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago...and between doing sales for an insurance company, doing graphic art and all that I mentioned before, I've never really took the time to think about success... to be true, I've only ever always thought of the deal and getting the work done...<br /><br />with that mind set... I never for once thought, "am I doing business with this person because she is a woman?..."<br /><br />No, I just used my skills to the best of my abilities to push myself further... and get paid...<br /><br />you would too right?..... for sure...the bottom line is the bottom line...<br /><br />But, deep inside of each if us, we are all influenced by something anything or for me, everything. And so,yesterdays conference, seminar, high proflie meeting with some of the most dynamic WOMEN IN BUSINESS, made me think...<br /><br />How can we do more business with women?...<br /><br />Not for any gratification, other than making the model a different one, one that sees the VALUE in not doing business with a man just because he's a bloke and we can have a brew at the pub, or maybe play a football game to "bond"... but to actually do business with women, simply because, regardless of the business, they have a better WAY of doing business, a more accomodating way of doing business.<br /><br />To get results and at the end of the day, ADD VALUE to your product or service.<br /><br />so as I leave you today I'll say 3 things...<br /><br />Firstly, Orla, I love your mother, your mother Orla is quite simply THE MOST AMAZING woman on God's green Earth...<br /><br />2) Women.... But a system driven by quality!!!...<br /><br />This is why Hollyweed (oops memories from the North Coast of Trinidad...Che?...yuh readin' dis?......) will forever rule.<br /><br />entertainment takes many different forms... (Clear de way...Come Out ah de Road Warrior)<br /><br />Imagine for a minute that all you have is a photocopier and some magazines and a glue stick... working to impress... You will become creative to get your idea across...YOU WILL FIND A WAY.<br /><br />In a sense that's the power of blogging.<br /><br />but for me, and yes us, hopefully, the power will extend across every platform regardless... using every tool available...
